HISTORY
Wolverine Power Cooperative was formed January 1, 1983, resulting from the merger
of Wolverine Electric Cooperative and Northern Michigan Electric Cooperative.
Wolverine Electric, headquartered in Big Rapids, served four electric cooperatives
in southwest Michigan at the time of the merger. It was chartered in 1948. Northern Michigan Electric,
headquartered in Boyne City, was also formed in 1948 under the direction of three
electric cooperatives.

GOVERNANCE
Wolverine Power Cooperative is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of two
members from each of its five member-cooperatives. The Board of Directors
is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the co-op, overseeing policies
and guiding operations.
Wolverine Power Cooperative is regulated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
The co-op receives all financing from the private sector, with no government
funding.
ENERGY CONTROL CENTER
Wolverine Power Cooperative owns and operates a state-of-the-art Energy Control
Center for monitoring of all transmission and merchant functions. This $6-million
facility is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by trained professionals ready
to respond to the needs of member-cooperatives.

GENERATING PLANTS
Wolverine Power Cooperative owns and operates five electric generating facilities
capable of producing 200 megawatts of internal generation, primarily peaking capacity.
The co-op's plants are located throughout the state in Tower, Gaylord, Hersey,
Vestaburg and Burnips.
TRANSMISSION SYSTEM
Wolverine Power Cooperative serves member-cooperatives with 1,600 miles of bulk
transmission line. The co-op maintains 130 distribution and 36 transmission
substations located throughout its transmission system.
