Wind farm
Wolverine
Power Cooperative
has installed
a meteorological
tower at
Adam’s
Point near
Rogers City
to collect
wind speeds,
directional
data and
temperatures
to determine
the feasibility
of a wind
farm at the
site.
The
meteorological
tower stands
196 feet
and records
weather data
at three
different
heights.
Data is transmitted
to Wolverine
remotely
and will
be collected
for 18 to
24 months
to determine
the project’s
potential.
Wolverine
strongly
supports
the development
of clean,
renewable
energy. We
have
signed a
long-term
agreement
to purchase
wind energy
from the
Harvest Wind
Farm, the
state's first
commercial-scale
wind project
in Michigan’s
Thumb area.
The
Harvest
Wind Farm’s
32 turbines
produce
enough electricity
to supply
the on-going
needs of
more than
15,000 Michigan
homes. The
project is
principally
owned by
John Deere
Wind Energy.
